![]() | While reading this.... (from texasparkour.com) WHAT For those of you who did not came to Ohio, Parkour Generations as told us they are willing to come to Texas. THERE ARE MANY FACTORS OF COURSE THAT MAKE THAT POSSIBLE. Biggest issue we have here in Texas Parkour is the money. Parkour Generations is not free. We are purposing the same amount of money as Ohio did to get them here. 10,000 dollars. It is quite a bill but there are many that have done it and will be another. W... T... F. Why would anyone, ANYONE in the states pay that much money for them to come. Please someone tell me this isn't true. From what I saw from that seminar and heard from others it was not worth 10,000 at all. I honestly cannot believe this. I've trained with all those guys in person before they started passing off follow the leader as a valid chargeable training method and ran hour long cardio marathons... Sigh.... It still wasn't worth it then. Hell, training with David Belle isn't even worth this money in the slightest. What makes this worse is, I remember reading that the Ohio guys had to raise the money themselves by taking on extra hours and part time jobs. This is bad... Very bad. Holy crap. I couldn't give a [censored] if people flame me for this, that's ridiculous when there's tons of people in North America that could have helped the Ohio scene just fine. When you gotta pay your way like that to get somewhere, Parkour doesn't become Parkour anyone... It's something totally different. I cannot believe people will pay these prices with the notion that they will learn true Parkour or something like this... Parkour is going to click in all your heads one day, and its not going to be some french guy, or British guy, or even Canadian guy whos flaming away here that does it for you. Its going to be YOU and thats all. TO ANYONE IN THE STATES WHO READS THIS.... SAVE YOUR MONEY. FLY TO CANADA AND ME AND A GROUP OF 10 OTHERS WITH 6+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WILL GUIDE YOU ALONG YOUR WAY FOR PENNIES COMPARED TO THIS. I remember a day when everyone used to do this, and everyone talked and helped each other out.... Long gone I guess. Say what you will back to me. Itll be a good discussion either way.

![]() | Agreed with Danno. I've been saying this for a very long time. ParkourGenerations is a scam. They pretend to hold some kind of ancient wisdom and knowledge when in fact they're nothing more than a bunch of dudes who have been jumping over stuff longer than you. About a year ago, I was ostracised for saying such things in public. I just hope the community is now mature enough to see things for what they really are. Yes, Danno does have his own gym, so one could claim that he is biased, but his points are still valid. I once wrote an article saying that Parkour seems to behave like a cult. Do not prove this by paying a sack of cash to make Level-18 of traceurhood. "Practice makes permanent - not perfect."

![]() | anyone who would pay 10k for knowledge they could get for themself through experience have a silly relationship with money. While I have not attended a class and can therefore not be said to speak from experiece what I have seen from their videos is not something unique or in any way special enough to warrant such a price. You would honestly be better of paying for an introduction cource to sport science or something like that... AKA giant....

![]() | Just in case people say stuff about my gym and what I do up here... the capital words were more so sarcasm than anything and can be easily removed from the post. They don't actually add to any point.

![]() | That's an absolutely ludicrous amount of money. There is no logical reason why that's necessary.

![]() | That's flying super first class all the way to Texas lol. Really, though, why would anyone pay money for training...it doesn't make sense. It would cost a lot less just to go there and train with them, and if they won't come for free (or even for less) than oh well...that's okay. You can get the exact same training from watching their videos on YouTube, and just copy their conditioning excercises to your heart's desire. And Danno, I'm about to hit you up on your offer ;)

![]() | ...(unrelated to this) @Jared: your college tuition sounds like is less than my daughter's pre-K tuition in San Francisco... [censored]! ...(related to this) can somebody confirm amount/details with Ohio? Somehow related: Dan Edwardes (Pk Gen) is in SF today for some YouTube live event, and will be holding a session tomorrow, Sunday, supported and promoted by one of the two communities active in the Bay Area (not the one I belong, the other...lol!). This is, IMO, a clear mkt.g trip for them and, if somebody paid, it would be YouTube... for sure not the "other" forum admins... We have been invited to attend (for free, I assume) and some will go, while the majority of us will hold our own -low profile- regular Sunday basic training, geared to beginners. We have been also asked if we have questions for Mr. Edwardes Q&A (like he'd be a candidate campaigning...). I don't. Do you? "Volonté, persévérance et humilité" - David Belle

![]() | What the hell!!!!!??? I can't believe they actually consider themselves to teach true Parkour while taking money of people like this. I think it is completely ridiculous, man...... "A man is only as strong as his will to improve himself everyday"

![]() | correct me if I'm wrong, but i thought that a lot of people liked parkour because it's free (philosophically, and finacially). Personally, the chance to spread parkour is enough of a reward. Money would be good on the side, but i dont want to force people to pay

![]() | I think that the problem also roots on the fact that people want/try to learn from who they think are the best. The good thing about Parkour is that pretty much it is a self taught discipline, as many people have learned entirely from a lot reading (good, well structured articles about all aspects of the discipline) and a couple of videos. I see how someone or a group would pay a high sum of money to train with "far more experienced" traceurs in order to try and better their Parkour. I still this is ridiculous, is like David Belle charging $20,000 in order to go to Lisses and train with him, when Parkour is something that has to be passed on as a gift and an opportunity, not as a product. ![]() | Wow...just wow. Their marketing has worked perfectly. Even though their group as a whole hasn't been training for that long they've tricked people into thinking they are gods. Young traceurs actually tell me that pkgen are their heroes...sad. Their trick is to make you feel inferior by outconditioning you. Do not be fooled. There are many more ways to success as a traceur than their method. People have asked me to attend their session this weekend in SF, but I refuse to support their product. I for one am boycotting pkgen because I believe they are hurting parkour. They set themselves up as idols, they support competition, they take advantage of communities, and they insult people. That amount of money is pure rape for what they provide. How about some unity here in North America. Support each other locally! There are fantastic teachers right here with more experience, more enthusiasm, and more humility. [ Edited Nov 22 '08, 09:42PM ]
