Landings without Rolls
If it is hard for you, you should use more forward momentum. It will help keep your knees above 90 degrees and promote a better landing. Drops/ landings shouldn't be taken without forward momentum :).

Landings without Rolls
Thanks guys... I tried landing with knees forwards, feet shoulder width, and relaxed joints but tense muscles... my landings have improved a lot. On the subject of the 90 degree rule, I think it puts a lot of stress on the knees to try to stay above 90 degrees on high drops. I havent experienced any problems with bending my knees more than 90 degrees. I think this rule only applies to landings with rolls, because bending your knees more than 90 degrees absorbs to much momentum and u wont have any for your roll. Ive seen david belle land without rolls bending his legs more than 90 degrees, but ...

Landings without Rolls
I thought both of you acted a little immaturely in this thread. You were both overly critical.

I find my landings to be a-lot more like what danno described, but, I found that both of you posted in a condescending way. I'm more certain that this is due to the nature of the internet than either of your attitudes but you should be critiquing only the advice of someone and not the person themselves.

I realize that this post is also a critique of you guys, and I am very sorry for that. Much respect to both of you, I've learned alot from many of your posts.

Ithaca College Parkour Video - November 2007
Solid landings throughout, which is nice to see. You guys look pretty athletic and have a good balance of strengths. I would have liked to see you reach that top bar directly on the first wall. Also try to run straight into your turn vaults and take off one foot. Lastly try to jump "up" more on your static maneuvers (precisions, standing arm jump). Right now you are jumping with a lot of forward force, and it makes the landing harder to control, so just aim for more height.

Odd knee pain
as some background, I have very strong legs, never have reoccurring knee pain and hardly any pain ever, sometimes when I am standing up for 6+ hours my knees start aching a little if I bend them too much. I almost never take drops more than 1.5 meters and train/condition at least 3 days a week for 2 to 3 hours each time. I just got back from a two day long jam, I am very slightly sore and generally amazed at my muscular endurance over the past weekend, the last jam of this size I was destroyed afterwards, and that was one month ago. there is only one problem, my knee hurts. there is no pain wh...

Of course you can not train every situation. So, why dont' you just try. :)

Exactly, train to be perfect. Even though you cannot ever be perfect, this attitude allows you to progress constantly and be a stonger person.

Hey BNP, I met you in Chinatown during the video jam. Long time no see. I like a lot of what you are saying here, but perfection, or the idea of perfection is seldom useful in my opinion, unless it's used in a minor sense like, "I'm going to perfect my landings, so I wont bust my a55"

Let's face it, the idea of perfection, being something un...
